Gut-busting hilarious… Thompson influenced the past few generations with his invention of Gonzo Journalism. His work and antics will live on to influence even more generations to come. I paid tribute to Hunter S Thompson and his work with my portrait and article on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/02/in-memoriam-hunter-s-thompson.html

THAT IS FUCKING AWESOME

In all fairness this was obviously a joke on Thompson’s behalf
A) First check, what are the chances that this was the first thing he bought with that book of checks.
B) $2,000,000 would have bought like a warehouse filled to the ceiling with cocaine in 1979 especially if Thompson was buying it!
C)The check is obviously not voided
Though I have to say the real story behind this is prolly 2,000,000x cooler than any drug deal!

A warehouse filled to the ceiling? No way. More like a duffel bag. Cocaine is really expensive.
This is two and a half million worth:

bruce, in 1979 it would have been much cheaper, therefore being in a much larger quantity

How does one know it is the first check of the book? I’m curious. not arguing.
November 14th, 2011 - 22:39
it reads 101 in the upper right hand corner, thats the first check in a check book.
December 1st, 2011 - 08:57
Not necessarily. I had the bank start numbering my checks at 379 just to mess with people who are weird like me

Jimmy Buffett also lived at 704 Waddell Ave. New life goal: get an apartment in that building.

You know that law enforcement calculate the highest price right? It’s because they can frame you for more and lock you away for a even longer time. Prices vary and they estimate from the highest they know of.

Hunter S. Thompson…talented, but what a waste. I see people who thought he was sooo cool…but he wasn’t cool at all.
I wonder if he understood how people were laughing at him, not with him? Like a poor old sod playing the clown for everybody’s
amusement. Funny in a very sad way until the end of his life. He was an evil, selfish person. I mean, he shot his brains out
with his son, daughter in law and grandson in the next room. What a burden to intentionally place on your family. I am not a psychiatrist,
but my diagnosis for Hunter S. Thompson requires one simple word…’EVIL’.
“The psychology of evil” explains his actions.” It’s not accepted as a psychiatric diagnosis yet, but many shrinks have written
books about the concept. It is kind of like a psychiatrist ruling out all mental illnesses…and only evil explains certain horrible actions. I think he had
big talent , but so what? The way he lived and exited planet earth leaves him with a tarnished epitaph to the nth factor. It is guys like Hunter S. Thompson
that makes the world a horrible place to live in. Though, with the devil riding shotgun with Hunter and calling the shots, I sure try to be empathetic. Usually,
Satan comes disguised. In Hunter’s case, Satan manipulated Hunter like a puppet master. At least it was apparent to me from my perspective. Satan is not
funny or cool, and he certainly destroyed his life.
